Cherry Music Stand

As a piano technician I have a surplus of piano parts. Whenever possible I like to “re-purpose” them into my projects. In this music stand, the center scrollwork was from an old piano. The music stand is adjustable in height and can tilt for the proper angle.

Everett Media Console

This media console named after my son includes a waterfall edge, sliding bypass doors, push to open doweled drawers, a river of bubinga (is there any finer?) and more. I was inspired by the works of Jory Brigham and Greg Klassen. To build the waterfall edge I used floating mortise and tenon, aka the domino. I used stop dados to build the other aspects of the case. I routered 2 grooves for the sliding bypass doors. I did a coved design on the doors on the table saw. I routered in slots in the back for power cords and venting for electronics. I applied 3 coats of arm-r-seal to finish out the build. Thanks for looking.

Customized Camera Cage Screws

I recently purchased an excellent SmallRig cage for my Panasonic GH5, But the screw used to attach the camera to it didn’t live up to my expectations. Thus like any other home shop machinist, I made a custom one. The video shows how I took a standard button head cap screw and modified it to […]

Meeting Friends

Each week or so someone stops me somewhere and says, “You’re Paul Sellers!” or “Are you Paul Sellers?” It’s gratifying, I must say. Afterwards I ask myself, ‘How did this happen?’. This morning I was working on my computer in a cafe at Waitrose which is quite usual for me and Ben came over from…

I Made a Box

I made a box with four dovetailed corners from pallet wood in 21 minutes. I eyeballed the angles, no guides are sliding bevels, and the sizes, nothing measured, to take out any measuring and did the whole in front of an audience of two I had engaged in a discussion and demonstration on economy of…

Backlit LED Poster Frame Light Box

Nicole and I love movies and we are lucky to have our own home theater room. Just outside that room, is a recess with an outlet on the wall intended for a back-lit poster frame. The one that came with the house was made with fluorescent tubes and was falling apart. So this is my replacement. It features a dimmable LED light strip and a double sided poster (which gives the best results when backlit) and accepts 27″ x 40″ posters.
