It’s Been a Nice Week

Today was hot for England. Hotter in France though, thankfully. What’s 32 celsius in old money? 90F. It’s an easy calculation: 32C x 9/5+32=89.6F. this evening is cooling of with small clouds scudding across the skies ahead of me. My bike is my treasure. I follow the river path and see the fox scurrying away.…

A Waste of Space

Grundon is a national waste management company we pay to take away our general waste and recycled materials. This last week there was a little waste left in my waste bin that this general waste company refused to take. Why? Because there was a bucket full of beautiful curly wood shavings in the bin. Now…

Bits and Braces

But I Don’t Have A Domino – Loose Mortise and Tenon Joints

The Festool Domino was introduced in 2007 and I was fortunate enough to work with Festool at the time. So the Domino came into my shop has been something of a blessing and a curse ever since. The people who can afford one and love it tend to embrace it for the time-saving invention it is. There really isn’t a faster way to create a mortise and tenon joint. But for those who can’t afford it, don’t want to buy it, or generally don’t like the brand Festool, the Domino is the worst thing to happen to humanity since

But what about that fancy router? I’m using a Festool OF1400 which is one of the best routers on the market. I use it for it’s creature comforts like dust collection, ease of handling, and micro-adjusting edge guide. This technique requires NONE of those creature comforts. If you have a router that plunges and has an edge guide, you can do this technique.

Mid-Century Modern Dining Table

I sat down to design a new dining table for my brother-in-law Jason and before I was done I realized it was totally inspired by my time with Jory Brigham. The table has splayed legs, a large overhanging top, and bevels and tapers galore. Plans will be available soon. Since I haven’t put out a video in a while, I didn’t want to delay the release for the plans.

Making Your Own Furniture

I think that maybe the hardest part is the start.
